Mad Meddlers version 13.1 released! Lock-on improvement fixed some major issues with combat.


I made some significant changes to the game. UI is using nuklear gui now instead of imgui for skinning and better looking ui. 

As suggested by Jacob a teammate on another project, I made player aim at opponent in lock-on to make it easier to shoot and attack the opponent. I did this by rotating player to face the opponent. This change fixed issues with combat in the game in which hits are landing as intended most of the time, especially shooting. Before this change, it was about 40% of the time, hits landed. This issue goes back to the design problem of estimating 3D depth from a 2D image being difficult. Lock-on now feels close to Tekken / Soul Calibur with the view being orthogonal 2D like projection rather than 3D perspective projection like Super Mario 64 and other 3D platformers. Getting out of lock-on allows freedom of playing combat like a 3D platformer or focusing on another opponent.
